GRC Hoops (24-10) wins their 3rd straight 10th Region championship with a 71-49 dismantling of Harrison County (26-8) and with it a trip to the girls’ Sweet 16 state tournament to be held for the first time ever at Rupp Arena. In a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the final score would indicate, Harrison County focused most of their defensive attention on Kennedy Igo after her epic 25-point semifinal performance the night before. But you can’t focus on any one GRC player as several on this squad can and have stepped up this season to carry the team to victory. Tonight it was Hayley Harrison’s turn. The senior who was suprisingly snubbed in the vote for who would represent the 10th Region as a Miss Basketball candidate, made a big statement pouring in 24 points. GRC moves on to play in Lexington next week and will face 6th Region champion Mercy next Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
