Winchester, KY (2/13/2017) – With less than 10 seconds left in the game, Shamaya Behanan’s 19th and 20th points on the night courtesy of an assist from Kennedy Igo gave the Lady Cards their only lead of the night and enabled GRC (23-4) to earn an improbable 64-62 comeback victory over the Lafayette Lady Generals (20-8).
GRC probably couldn’t have played any worse than they did in the last game of the season at Letcher Norton in the first quarter and a half. Finding themselves down by 24 points by a score of 35-11 midway through the 2nd quarter, GRC finally made some plays and cut Lafayette’s lead to 10 at 41-31.
Maleaha Bell was right behind Behanan’s game-high 20 points with 17 points of her own. Hayley Harrison was key in the comeback scoring 9 of her 11 points in the 2nd half. Rounding out the scoring for GRC were Igo (8), Jasmine Flowers (6), and Elizabeth Hardiman (2).
From the field, GRC was 26-63 (41.3%) including just 3-14 (21.4%) from 3-point range. The Lady Cards knocked down 9-15 (60.0%) at the free throw line.
Behanan with 11 rebounds and Bell with 10 dominated the glass.
