Multiple Teams · Cards Run Out of Fuel in Fourth @ Paris, 81-67


Coach Cook used 11 different players last night at Paris. He was without the services of two starters, Will Philpot and Jordan Graham, due to illness. Therefore, he used an endless number of different combinations on the floor.

The Cardinals led with 2:35 remaining in the first quarter at 14-13; however, Paris scored 8 unanswered points to take a 7-point lead. Ryan Cooper hit a trey with 1:05 remaining to cut the deficit. Paris led after the first quarter, 25-18. Chase Taylor had 5 points and JJ Johnson had 4 points in the quarter.

The Greyhounds opened the second quarter with a run of 6-2. The teams would trade baskets for most of the remaining second quarter. Paris led at halftime, 46-36. PJ Williams led the Cardinals in the second quarter with 2 treys.

The third quarter belonged to the Cardinals. Trailing 52-41 with 4:23 remaining, GRC went to the line for 4 free throws due to a personal and technical foul. The Cards made 3 of 4 to close to within 8. Ryan Cooper and Chase Taylor added several buckets throughout the quarter. Isaiah Noland hit a trey at the buzzer to pull the Cards to within 2 at 60-58.

Unfortunately, Paris scored 7 unanswered points to open the fourth quarter. The Cardinals pulled to within 6 at 67-61 with 4:30 remaining following Isaiah Noland’s bucket. However, the Greyhounds would end the game on a run of 14-6 to win, 81-67.
