London, KY – Jasmine Flowers and Haley Harrison scored 18 points apiece to lead GRC Hoops (1-0) to a 71-57 victory over the North Laurel Jaguars on Thursday in the Legacy Nissan Classic. Elizabeth Hardiman was just behind with 17 points and was named the GRC player of the game. GRC Hoops grabbed the lead against North Laurel on a two-pointer from Maleaha Bell in the second period and held on for the 14-point victory.
A 11-4 run during the first quarter allowed GRC Hoops to pull ahead, eventually claiming a 39-28 lead by halftime.
Harrison was the leader of George Rogers Clark’s offense with 18 points, including six during the fourth period. She also contributed 10 rebounds, three steals and one block.
Shamaya Behanan added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Jasmine Flowers notched two three-pointers on her way to tying for game high scoring honors for GRC Hoops. Also chipping in for GRC Hoops were Bell (6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals) and Kylee Murray (2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block).
From the field, the Lady Cardinals were 27-63 (42.9%) overall and 4-16 (25.0%) from the 3-point line. At the charity stripe, they were 13-22 (59.1%). GRC Hoops finished the game with 49 rebounds (20 offensive / 29 defensive), two blocks and 16 steals.
