After a long layoff, the Lady Cards struggled offensively in Estill County on Saturday in a doubleheader with the host Engineers and the Rockets from Rockcastle.
In the opener, Estill managed only six hits but manufactured six runs thanks to six Lady Card errors in the field. Courtney Miles went the distance for GRC striking out three and walking two. Madison Norton and Megan Terrell had the only hits for the Lady Cards, both singles.
In the second game, a lone run in the seventh inning provided the only offense in a narrow 1-0 victory for the Lady Rockets. Norton led the way at the plate with a single and double, while Sydney Anderson and Miles each added singles for the Lady Cards. Jessica Neal went the distance striking out three and walking three while scattering four hits over seven innings of work.
The Lady Cards play Madison Southern next at home on Tuesday night. It is Senior night where we will be honoring our nine seniors before the game in a ceremony starting at 5pm. Gametime is scheduled for 6:15.
